- Sliced red chili pepperoptional
- Sesame oil1 tsp
- Sake1 tbsp+
- Natural salt½ tsp+
- Coarsely ground black peppergenerously
Directions
10 min- 1
Wash 1 bunch of komatsuna and cut into bite-sized pieces. Thinly slice 2 cloves of garlic.
- 2
Heat 1 tsp of sesame oil in a frying pan over medium heat and stir-fry the sliced garlic. Being careful not to burn it, add sliced red chili pepper to taste and let the aroma develop.
- 3
Add the komatsuna, drizzle with 1 tbsp+ of sake, cover with a lid, and steam-fry over medium heat.
- 4
Once the komatsuna has wilted, remove the lid, season with ½ tsp+ of natural salt and a generous amount of coarsely ground black pepper, toss everything together lightly, and serve.
Tips
Steam the komatsuna over medium heat and be careful not to overcook it — this helps preserve its vibrant green color. Be mindful not to over-fry the garlic, and using domestically grown garlic will enhance the flavor.
