Directions

20 min
  1. 1

Slice 1-2 new onions into rounds about 1cm thick.

  2. 2

Mince 1 clove of garlic and combine with the ★ seasonings. Set aside.

  3. 3

Heat 2 tbsp of butter in a frying pan over medium heat.

  4. 4

Add the new onion slices and sauté by shaking the pan occasionally. Avoid directly stirring the onions to prevent them from breaking apart.

  5. 5

Once the first side is golden brown, flip and cook the other side the same way.

  6. 6

When both sides are golden, add the ★ seasonings and toss gently until the onions are well coated.

  7. 7

Transfer to a plate and top with Japanese green onion if desired.

  8. 8

Finish when all the sauce is evenly coated on the onions.

Tips

When sautéing, start with the smaller flat side of the onion to minimize breaking. Keep the heat at medium and avoid over-cooking for the best results.
