Directions

20 min
  1. 1

Sprinkle 1/4 tsp salt over the 2 tuna fillets and let sit for about 5 minutes. Wipe away surface moisture with paper towels.

  2. 2

Sprinkle a pinch of coarsely ground black pepper and dust lightly with 1.5 tbsp all-purpose flour. Shake off any excess flour.

  3. 3

Heat 1 tbsp salad oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the tuna and cook for 2 minutes.

  4. 4

Flip the fish, reduce heat to low, cover with a lid, and steam for 3 minutes.

  5. 5

Remove the lid, add 2 tbsp butter and let it melt. Pour 2 tbsp soy sauce in a circular motion around the fish.

  6. 6

Once the butter soy sauce coats the fish, transfer to a plate and drizzle with the remaining sauce. Serve immediately.

Tips

After flipping, steam on low heat to keep the tuna moist and tender. Be careful not to use high heat as the surface can burn easily.
