Juicy Sweet and Savory Roasted Chicken Wings (Tebasaki)

Paddy

HIROmamma's roasted chicken drumettes are absolutely gorgeous — brushed over and over with a soy-honey glaze until they're perfectly glossy and caramelized. I can't get enough of that shine!

Directions

75 min
  1. 1

Season 10 chicken drumettes with a pinch of salt and pepper to add a base flavor.

  2. 2

In a bowl, combine all the ★ seasonings to make the marinade.

  3. 3

Place the drumettes in a zip-lock bag or a sturdy resealable bag, then pour in the marinade.

  4. 4

Press out the air and seal the bag. Gently massage from the outside and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  5. 5

Line a baking dish with aluminum foil and fold up the edges to create a rim so the marinade doesn't run off.

  6. 6

Arrange the marinated drumettes skin-side up on the prepared baking dish and pour any remaining marinade over them.

  7. 7

Bake in an oven preheated to 230℃ for about 35 minutes, brushing the drumettes with the marinade 2 to 3 times during cooking. (For a gas oven, bake at 180℃ for 30 to 35 minutes.)

  8. 8

Repeatedly brushing with the marinade gives the surface a beautiful glossy finish. Once baked through, they're ready to serve.

Tips

Folding up the edges of the aluminum foil keeps the marinade from spilling out, making it easy to baste the chicken throughout cooking. Applying the glaze multiple times is the key to that irresistible, glossy finish. Marinating the drumettes the night before means you just pop them in the oven on the day — super convenient!
