Universal Sesame Dipping Sauce That Makes Any Dish Delicious

No need for sesame paste! This creamy, versatile sesame dipping sauce comes together with just a mix. Perfect for bang bang chicken and cold shabu-shabu!

  • Ground white sesame seeds2 tbsp
  • Soy sauce1 tbsp
  • Sugar1 tbsp
  • Mayonnaise1 tbsp
  • Rice vinegar1 tsp
  • Sake1 tsp
  • Miso1 tsp
  • Sesame oil1/2 tsp
  • Chili oil (ra-yu)optional
  • Ground red chili pepper (ichimi togarashi)optional

    Add 2 tbsp ground white sesame seeds, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp mayonnaise, 1 tsp rice vinegar, 1 tsp sake, 1 tsp miso, and 1/2 tsp sesame oil to a bowl. Mix well until the flavors are evenly blended.

    Add chili oil and ground red chili pepper to taste, then stir thoroughly until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.

    Use as a dipping sauce for salads, bang bang chicken, chilled tofu, or serve with warm shabu-shabu with garnishes on the side.

    For a lighter dish, blanch gobo (burdock root) and toss with the sauce until well coated.
