This adorable Santa cake uses the sponge's natural skin tone beautifully! With efficient strawberry placement, it's the perfect festive treat! ♪
Ingredients
8 servings- 18cm sponge cake1
- Whipped cream1 pack
- Strawberries (medium)1 pack
- Black chocolate pen1
- ★Water4 tbsp
- ★Sugar2 tbsp
- ★Sugarto taste
- ★Vanilla extracta few drops
Directions
90 min- 1
Bake an 18cm sponge cake using your preferred method, or use a store-bought one.
- 2
Reserve 1 strawberry with a nice shape for the nose, then slice the remaining strawberries lengthwise into 3 pieces each.
- 3
Mix ★4 tbsp water and ★2 tbsp sugar, microwave for 20 seconds to make a syrup. Use it if you prefer.
- 4
Add ★sugar to taste to the whipped cream pack and beat to medium-stiff peaks. Add ★a few drops vanilla extract, and if using syrup, adjust cream sweetness accordingly.
- 5
Slice the sponge cake in half. Use the sliced surface (not the baked surface) for drawing Santa's face for a cleaner finish.
- 6
Brush syrup on the sponge as desired, then layer whipped cream and sliced strawberries. Apply cream thinly but not too sparingly.
- 7
Brush syrup and a thin layer of cream on the hat and beard areas and sides. Leave the face area bare to keep its natural skin tone.
- 8
Place strawberries on the hat area, then pipe white cream using a star-shaped tip.
- 9
Pipe cream on the beard area using a round-shaped piping tip.
- 10
Decorate the sides with the sliced strawberries and pipe a ring of cream around with a star-shaped tip.
- 11
Draw eyes, mouth, and decorative marks on parchment paper with the black chocolate pen, then refrigerate until set.
- 12
Transfer the chocolate pen decorations and the strawberry nose to the cake. Secure the eyes with a small amount of whipped cream, adjust the overall balance, and it's complete!
Tips
Using different piping tips for the hat and beard adds visual interest even though both are white. If you don't have a round piping tip, you can cut the piping bag opening to about 1cm diameter. Don't overbeat the cream—if it's too stiff, piping won't look smooth. Finding the right consistency is key.
