Buttery Aromatic Classic Shortbread

These shortbread cookies are super crispy and made with just a few simple ingredients! The rich buttery flavor is absolutely irresistible♪

    In a bowl, combine 75g of softened butter with 35g of caster sugar and mix well until pale and fluffy.

    Add 1/4 tsp salt and mix gently, adjusting the texture as needed.

    Sift 140g of cake flour and add it to the butter mixture.

    Mix carefully until no flour streaks remain and the dough becomes smooth and uniform.

    Place the dough in a plastic bag, press firmly to shape it into a rectangle with a thickness of about 1.3mm, and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

    Remove from the plastic bag, cut into long, thin strips, and use a bamboo skewer to create decorative patterns on the surface.

    Bake in a preheated 150°C oven for approximately 35 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.

Tips

Using caster sugar will give you a smoother texture. You can use either salted or unsalted butter, but if using salted butter, reduce the amount of salt slightly. Using cultured butter will enhance the flavor even more.
