2 servings- Rice1/3 to 1/2 cup
- Water7 to 8 times the rice amount + extra
- Seven herb mixture (nanakusa)1 bag
- ★Chicken broth powder2 tsp or more
- ★Salta pinch
Directions
70 min- 1
Add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of rice and water (7 to 8 times the rice amount + extra) to a pot. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat and simmer for 30 to 60 minutes until the rice reaches your desired softness.
- 2
Do not cover the pot or keep the lid slightly ajar to prevent boiling over. Add water or hot water as needed to maintain the consistency.
- 3
Prepare the seven herb mixture. Cut the white parts of daikon radish and turnip into small cubes and lightly parboil them. Blanch the leafy parts, chill in cold water, and chop roughly.
- 4
Add the ★ seasonings to the finished porridge and adjust the taste. Serve with pickles or sesame oil as desired.
Tips
If you cannot find a packaged seven herb mixture, parsley or daikon radish and turnip alone work wonderfully. Using extra parsley enhances the flavor. You can also save time by using a rice cooker or ready-made porridge.
