Aromatic Salmon in Foil (Sake no Hoil Yaki)

This foil-baked salmon is all about sealing it perfectly! The result is so fluffy and juicy - absolutely delicious! ♪

Ingredients

  • Salmon fillet2 pieces
  • Oil (for brushing foil)as needed
  • Shimeji mushrooms1/4 package
  • Onion1/2
  • King trumpet mushroom (Eringi)1/2
  • Sliced lemon2 slices
  • ★Sake1 tbsp
  • ★Salt and peppera pinch
  • ★Butter or margarine1 tbsp
  • ★Soy sauceto taste

    Cut aluminum foil to about 30 cm and brush the inside with oil.

    Slice the onion and place in the center of the foil, then top with 2 salmon fillets.

    Add the king trumpet mushroom, shimeji mushrooms, and 2 lemon slices on top, then drizzle with 1 tbsp sake.

    Place 1 tbsp butter or margarine on top and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

    Carefully fold and wrap the foil edges together, sealing it tightly.

    Add 50 cc water to a frying pan, place the foil packet inside, cover with a lid, and steam-bake over medium heat for 10 minutes.

    Once the foil puffs up and becomes fragrant, it's ready to serve.

    Open the foil and drizzle with soy sauce to taste before eating.

Tips

Sealing the foil edges tightly prevents tears during steam-baking. Feel free to customize the vegetables. If using salted salmon, omit the added salt.
